Horry County fire/Rescue has opened up a third battalion and the units will operate on TAC 3 for radio operations. Captains Walker and VanAernem have been promoted to fill the vacancies created by opening up the new battalion. Congrats to HCFR on the new battalion and the Captains on their promotions.

June 2, 2009- Personnel from Station 7 completed the entanglement section of the RIT and May Day training. The “Wire Box” is being rotated around to stations for personnel to use in preparation for the upcoming RIT scenarios and evaluations.

May 4- 1400hrs- M18 was alerted to the North Myrtle Beach bus Lot for a hemmorage. Upon arrival they found a child with a dislocated knee that was stuck between two bus seats. 0900hrs- Units from HCFR Hazardous Materials Team were requested to assist North Myrtle Beach Public Safety with a drum with an unknown product that washed up on the beach. The units are on the scene attempting to identify the product.

Jan. 29- 0915- E2 was alerted for a special duty call for a cat stuck in a wheel chair. Crew extricated the cat from the wheel chair with the assistance of some bolt cutters. The cat was unharmed during the rescue.
